Our Story: The Legacy of Botha & Deysel Executive
It all began in 1982, when Frikkie Botha sold his very first vehicle — a 1976 Volkswagen Passat. That single sale sparked a lifelong passion for the motor industry.
Just a year later, in 1983, Frikkie partnered with a colleague to bring a dream to life by opening Botha & Deysel Motors on Telford Street in Vereeniging.
In 1984, the business relocated to its current premises on Rhodes Avenue in Vereeniging, where it continues to proudly serve customers to this day.
Family has always been central to the Botha legacy. In 2011, Frikkie’s sons joined the business, and together they established a new division: Botha & Deysel Executive Motors — a proudly family-owned and family-run enterprise.
In 2016, Ruan Botha began his journey at the Vanderbijlpark branch, originally branded as B-Executive. In 2024, the branch was officially renamed Botha & Deysel Vanderbijlpark, strengthening the brand’s identity.
Armand Botha stepped into leadership in 2018 at the Vereeniging branch – the original home of the Botha & Deysel Executive Group.
The business continued to grow and opened a branch in Roodepoort in 2024.
In 2025, the group, comprising branches in Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark, and Roodepoort, proudly received its AA Certified Dealership status — a testament to the group’s unwavering commitment to excellence.
Though Ruan and Armand manage their own showrooms, they continue to draw wisdom and guidance from their father, Frikkie Botha. Through the dedication and teamwork of the Botha Trio, the group successfully relocated Botha & Deysel Workshop to a larger, better-equipped facility in 2024. With an improved layout — from the stockyard and workshop to an in-house valet centre — everything is now conveniently housed under one roof.
In early 2025, the workshop earned RMI (Retail Motor Industry) Approval with a prestigious 5-Star Rating, and shortly after, was officially recognised as an AA Approved Workshop.
Awards During the Years
- Businessman of the Year (1988): Frikkie Botha was honoured as the youngest recipient at the time.
- ABSA Award – Top Second-Hand Dealer (1988–2024): Awarded for 36 consecutive years, including the past 14 years under the Botha & Deysel Executive Motors brand.
- ABSA Non-Franchise Bank Dealer of the Year (2024): Recognized as the best non-franchise motor dealer nationally in the banking division.
- ABSA Golden Partner Award (2022): Armand Botha and Ruan Botha made history as the youngest recipients of this prestigious award.
- PMR Africa Platinum Arrow Award – Sedibeng District: Voted Best Motor Dealer in the region 11 times: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018–2024.
- Old Mutual & Rapport Business Awards (2004): Achieved third place in the national competition for Best Business in South Africa.
